Scattered Sunflowers, the latest collection of poetry and art by Alexis Rotella, is now available on Amazon.
Alexis writes: “Scattered Sunflower is my perspective as a second-generation Russian/Ukrainian on the invasion in its early days using poetry, art and haiga to express my shock and sadness. Proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders and Care in order to benefit Ukrainian refugees.”
Poet Laureate of Maryland Grace Cavalieri writes:
“Alexis’ paintings are the “Italo Calvino” of art. Each line is alive with folklore, legend, and myth, from the magical realm of imagination. This book displays the Ukrainian plight with a haiku plus a visual on each page–a Japanese genre called “haiga”–and Rotella is a known expert in creating this form. The pathos she paints in each character is an essence of that country’s struggle, and if ever pain created beauty, it is in this collection. Rotella is one of our living Masters and this book is a true Masterwork.”
