Carmen Sterba, on her way home to Japan

Carmen Sterba is a kind and gentle poet who has spent half of her life in Japan. This picture was taken as she was about to step into a cab and begin her long journey home to Kamakura. Carmen writes haiku, haibun, and sijo (a Korean form). She is the haijinx editor for Asia.

Carmen and some other haiku poets recently visited R.H. Blyth's grave in Kamakura, Japan. (See Michael P. Garofalo's biographical notes on Blyth.)

Carmen's report of that visit, which includes haiku by the participants and a gallery of photographs by Mitsugu Abe, is in World Haiku Review, Issue 3.
